PROGRAM INFORMATION
Pallen’s Day Camp planned activities will be fun! Our creative staff team has planned activities that are fun and that will also keep your children as safe as possible by allowing for social distancing, no equipment being passed from person to person and no large group interaction. These activities include martial arts training, arts and crafts, gym games, outside time, kid fit classes, brain games, STEM activities and more!

AND... We plan to conduct the camp primarily outdoors in the dojo's large back yard and at Halcyon Park.

Currently, Pallen’s Day Camp is offered for grades K - 6 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.  At Pallen’s Heritage After School Program site: 1655 East 14th Street, San Leandro.
COST
$299 per week, 9 am – 3 pm OR $359 per week, 8 am - 4 pm.  We will not be offering discounts for half days, or limited attendance as we can only accept a small number of children and the groups must remain the same throughout the week.  Attendance is your choice; cost will remain the same.

SAFETY AND WELLNESS
  • Children will be grouped according to age/grade and will be in groups of 12 with one Pallen Instructor and assistant. Children will remain in this small group with their Pallen Instructor rotating to different activities.
  • All staff and participants must complete the Screening Assessment prior to entering the program.
  • We will take the temperatures each day for children and staff as they arrive.
  • Children will wash hands prior to joining their group at the beginning of each day.
  • We will enforce increased handwashing and sanitizing throughout the day.
  • Children will be in the same group during the day with one staff member in the morning and one staff member in the afternoon.
  • We will avoid large group gatherings.
  • Equipment and touchpoints will be wiped down on a regular basis throughout the day.
  • The site will be cleaned nightly.
HEALTH SCREENING
Everyone must review the health screening information below before registering their child(ren).
We are following strict orders from the CDC, Governor’s Office, and the Alameda County Public Health Department. These are the adjustments we have made to our camp activities to ensure the health and safety of the children and our staff. These new policies are for the safety of our Pallen’s Martial Arts family and will be in effect until further notice.

OUR MORNING INTAKE PROCESS:
  1. Parents/students will be required to remain in their vehicle until the student is instructed to exit. We will be allowing one student in at a time.
  2. The staff, and anyone else entering the dojo, will have their temperature taken before entering the building. Your child will be visually assessed and their temperature will be taken with a “no touch” thermometer. If temp is above 99 degrees, they will not be allowed to enter.
  3. Hand sanitizer will be administered on the hands of all students immediately upon entering.
  4. They will be assigned to a play area. We have measured out play areas so the children will be more than 6 feet apart but still close enough to socialize.
  5. They will not be allowed to leave their assigned area, even to go to the bathroom, without teacher supervision. We will make sure they wash their hands for 20 seconds and that the bathroom is disinfected after each use.

AFTERNOON PICK UP PROCESS:
  1. We are implementing staggered pick up times to keep everyone as safe as possible.
  2. Each family will get a 5 minute time frame to pick up their child.
  3. When you arrive at the curb, your child will be packed and ready to leave. A staff member will escort your child to your car,
  4. If you need to arrange a different time for pick up just let us know.
  5. You can reach us at (510) 483-6560 ex.103 or with a text to (510) 694-0648 at any time.

STAFFING:
  1. Two teachers will be on site at all times to maintain the 1:6 ratio required by the Dept. of  Social Services. We will have no more than 12 children on site per day as required by the ACPHD. They will be the same children every day each week.
  2. All Pallen’s employees have cleared a background check through the Dept. of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index.

CLEANING:
  1. All commonly touched surfaces will be disinfected regularly throughout the day.
  2. Anything one child uses will be put into a bin to be disinfected before being given to another child.
  3. Bathrooms will be disinfected after every use.

ACTIVITIES:
  1. Each predetermined area will have multiple activities for each child to interact with. Toys, coloring, and playdoh are examples.
  2. We will still be doing our Zoom dance party on Tuesdays and our art class on Thursdays. The children will get to participate in these while staying in their assigned area.
  3. We will set up laptops for the children to participate in their Zoom karate classes.
  4. The children can request different toys or activities and we will do our best to accommodate them.
  5. We have also created designated play spaces outside to follow the social distancing guidelines
  6. We plan to conduct a good portion of the camp outdoors in the dojo's large back yard and at Halcyon Park for open air play.

LAST MINUTE ITEMS:
  1. No adults/parents will be allowed inside the building for any reason.
  2. Faces should be covered when coughing or sneezing. Tissues will not be reused and will immediately be thrown in the trash.
  3. Any child who shows signs of illness, including but not limited to: cough, sneezing, runny nose, or fever, will not be allowed to stay at camp.
  4. Any child who begins to show symptoms at any point in the day will immediately be separated from the others and sent home.
  5. Due to a high-bloom-Spring, there will be plenty of coughing and sneezing. It is vital that we do not dismiss coughing, sneezing or congestion as allergies. For the safety of everyone, proceed as if you have a virus.
  6. We ask all parents and students to advise us when they will be traveling. We will compare destinations to COVID-19 hotspots.
  7. We will require updated contact information for each child with multiple phone numbers for you to be reached, in case of an emergency.
  8. All staff members are required to wear face coverings (PPE). Students must also bring face coverings and will be encouraged by staff to wear them.
  9. At this time, we will not be providing snacks. 2 snacks and a lunch will need to be brought from home daily. All lunch and snack items need to be kid friendly. This means your child needs to be able to independently open and eat any items sent from home. We will not be warming, cooking, cutting, or peeling any items. You will also need to provide utensils, if needed. The children will not be allowed to share food. Water will also need to come from home. We are not allowing the use of our drinking fountain.
  10. Please do not allow your child to bring toys from home.
  11. Please send your child with:
  • Backpack
  • Change of clothes
  • Water bottle
  • 2 snacks, labeled am & pm
  • Kid friendly lunch
  • Sneakers
  • Jacket

We are doing, and will continue to do, everything in our power to keep everyone safe and happy.
